I have taken many classes that have been beneficial in my preparation in becoming a Spanish teacher. These courses were taken at the University of Nevada, Reno and La Universidad de Alicante. These courses include:

Spanish Composition I and II- These writing courses helped me become a better writer in Spanish. These courses taught me the proper steps and grammar when writing both formally and informally in Spanish.

Spanish Conversation- This class helped me become a better speaker. I learned to form sentences and how to properly converse with people in Spanish.

Spanish Culture and Civilization: This course focused on Spanish culture and history. It will aide in the customs and traditions I plan to teach my students.

Advanced Spanish Grammar: This was a strictly grammar class. It focused and polished my Spanish grammar.

Spanish Phonetics/Phonology: This class focused on how to spell and properly pronounce Spanish words. This was extremely helpful when it came to learning how to properly say and hear Spanish words. This will help with the student's pronunciation of Spanish words.

Intro to Spanish Translation and Advanced Spanish Translation: These classes taught me the proper steps and techniques to translate from both English to Spanish and Spanish to English. It solidified my ability to translate.

All of my Spanish Literature courses (5 total): These courses emphasized the reading of famous Spanish literatures. I also had to write various essays about the literature I read. These are great when it comes to reading comprehension and knowledge.

Hispanic Culture in the US: This course taught me about the three major Hispanic groups that have settled in the U.S. It taught the history of these groups and the influence these groups have on U.S. culture.

Study Abroad: The most important thing I did in college was study abroad in Alicante, Spain. This experienced not only helped with my Spanish in every which way, it opened my eyes to the big world out there. I not only gained a greater knowledge of Spanish, I gained so much culture and tradition, I cannot wait to share with my students.

The following courses were taken at Sierra Nevada College:

Psychological Foundations of Education: This course taught me the psychology in children and how they are effected in education. This is very beneficial when dealing with students and how to handle certain situations. This course helped look at the psychology in why students do the things that they do.

Sociological Foundations of Education: This course taught me the foundations of Sociology within the classroom setting. I learned about the history of education, how to manage a classroom, and other useful tips on how to deal with students, parents, faculty, and administration.

Interactive Methods in Secondary Curriculum Design: This course taught me how to teach/work with groups. I also learned how to effectively give various types of presentations and different lesson/unit plans. This also helped with communication skills when dealing with different types of people.

Teaching Methods of Reading in Secondary Education: This course taught the foundations of teaching reading content and literacy. It opened my eyes to how to effectively teach within my content area. It gave me various reading/teaching strategies to help with the literacy of our students.

Computer Application in the Classroom: This course taught me how to use technology within the classroom. It was a great way for me to learn various programs and applications to keep students motivated and engaged.
